Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) are the nutrient-rich larval stage of the Black Soldier Fly, Hermetia illucens. Unlike nuisance flies, BSFL are clean, efficient decomposers that naturally consume organic material and transform it into valuable biomass. They are naturally rich in protein, fats, minerals, calcium, phosphorus and other nutrients, making them an excellent supplemental food source for poultry, reptiles, fish, wild birds and other animals. Their natural feeding behavior also makes live BSFL an excellent enrichment food, allowing animals to forage while receiving valuable nutrition.
